What the numbers don't tell you

March is spring-like, with afternoons around 17 °C and the first terrace lunches on the squares of Gràcia and the Born. Mobile World Congress may fall in the first days, with its hotel surcharge. Easter, when it lands in March, brings Holy Week processions and the first real crowds, with Good Friday and Easter Monday holidays in Catalonia. The sea is still too cold for all but locals.

Rain falls on about five days. The clocks go forward on the last Sunday. The Barcelona Marathon runs through the city on a Sunday in mid-March, closing the main avenues for the morning. Hotel rates stay at winter levels until Easter. Park Güell and the Sagrada Família need booking a week ahead from Easter onward. For Sant Jordi and the cruise season, see April.
