What the numbers don't tell you
October marks the return of outdoor life, with afternoons around 35 °C in the first half and 32 °C by the end, warm rather than brutal, and GITEX, the technology fair at the World Trade Centre, filling the city's hotels for a week in mid-October. Global Village reopens for the season. Sea temperatures are at their warmest comfortable level, around 30 °C. Rain is rare.
Late October is one of the best-value windows before the winter peak, with beach weather by morning and evening and hotel rates still below November. Desert safaris resume full programmes.
