What the numbers don't tell you

August continues the peak, with the Letní Letná circus festival under the plane trees from mid-August and beer gardens open late. Heat waves above 30 °C occur in some years, though afternoons average 24 °C. Many Prague residents are away, so neighbourhood restaurants in Vinohrady and Karlín are easier to book. Prague Pride fills a week in early August with a parade through the centre.

Rain falls on about eight days. The Castle, the Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock are at their most crowded between ten and four. Rates ease slightly in the final week as European schools return. The Dvořák Prague festival opens at the start of September. For the mild, calmer weeks locals prefer, see September.
