What the numbers don't tell you

September is mild, usually dry and noticeably calmer once European schools resume, with afternoons around 19 °C and the Dvořák Prague festival at the Rudolfinum in the first half. Czech Statehood Day on 28 September is a public holiday. It is many locals' favourite month, combining summer warmth with autumn colour by the end. Rates ease from the summer high.

Rain falls on about seven days. The Letní Letná festival ends in the first days of the month. The beer gardens stay open until the first cold nights in October. Daylight drops from thirteen and a half hours to under twelve. The Signal light festival and the autumn colours follow in October; the first half of September still has summer evenings on the river.
